- Das ∆t steht für ein Zeitintervall: die Titanic kollidierte nachst um 23:40 Uhr mit einem Eisberg. Um 02:20 Uhr war sie dann gesuunkten. Das Zeitintervall vom Anfang bis zum Ende der Katastrophe war dann zwei Stunden und 40 Minuten. 1514 Personen fanden dabei den Tod.
