• Land abseits der Küste: man sieht den nur knapp 24 km langen Fluss Harle noch einige Kilometer von der Mündung in die Nordsee entfernt. Das Land außerhalb des direkten Einflusses der Küste (Wind, Salz) nennt man Binnenland. Auch ein Staat, der keinen Zugang zum Meer hat wird als Binnenland bezeichnet.
